What a VIN says about a car in the Gulf

A page for each manufacturer scheme and each model this decoder can genuinely read, with the code tables it actually uses and a plain statement of where each one stops.

Read this before anything else
It applies to every page on this surface.

GCC specification is decided per vehicle, not per model. Two cars of the same model and the same year, built in the same factory in the same week, can go to different markets. So no page can tell you whether yours is a Gulf car, and this one does not try. What it can do is show you exactly what your own VIN encodes and where that stops.

There is no universal marker in a VIN that means GCC. A handful of manufacturers write a destination field into particular models, and where one exists these pages say so. For everyone else a VIN can usually still prove the negative, that a vehicle was not built for the American market, and that is a genuinely useful but much weaker thing.

Where coverage is strong, and where it is not
Stated up front rather than discovered by a visitor.

Strongest: Toyota and Lexus, Nissan, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Tesla. These have hand-built manufacturer VIN schemes behind them, sourced from the makers' own filings and from real vehicles, and they resolve model, chassis and often engine on cars the American reference cannot read at all.

Partial: Hyundai, Kia and Honda. Model line resolves on the Korean and Japanese built cars, at lower confidence, and trim generally does not.

Weak, and the page says so: Volkswagen and Audi. A European or Gulf car from either resolves the make and very little else, because the field that identifies it was never filed anywhere this decoder can reach.

Make only: Chinese brands, and everything not listed above. Country, manufacturer and usually make resolve from the first three characters. Model does not.
